The Saluting America’s Band Directors Project is a way to recognize the extraordinary dedication and accomplishments of band directors everywhere—public and private schools at all levels, colleges and universities, the military, community bands.
Your organization can sponsor your valued band director for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You may choose to underwrite the entire trip to Pasadena or a portion of it. See the package prices here. Take a few minutes to review this website, which will fully explain this unique experience to be in a marching band composed of band directors from across the country.
Your band director may already be aware of this exciting project. The first step is to discuss with him or her their availability to be in Pasadena, California from December 29, 2020 through January 2, 2021, as well as their ability to march and play their instrument for the 5.5 mile length of the Rose Parade route. Then make sure they apply as soon as possible by submitting an application. Once received, the application will be reviewed by a committee of the Michael D. Sewell Memorial Foundation and the band director will be notified of its acceptance. No payment is needed until this notification is given, at which time a $200 deposit will be required to hold a spot in the band, with the balance due at a later date. We understand that school and university payment systems vary widely; we are happy to work with you and the director to make the process as easy as possible.
